Time Management Book - You've Got To Practice What's Preached!
The self help section at my local book store is usually the first place I head to when I visit. I was looking for a particular time management book recommended to me by a friend but it wasn't in stock. Not to worry, I have enough time managent books to keep me happy for awhile.
While I was browsing around the self help section I couldn't help but notice how many books on time management there were available. Dozens of authors all with great advice and good intentions in trying to help people live more constructive and productive lives. Then I thought..."If a person spends all their time reading these books when will they ever find the time to actually put into practice what's preached to them. Analysis Paralysis Syndrome Sooner or later a person has to do rather than absorb information. It's the classic case of analysis paralysis, something I see everyday and a real problem in our day-to-day living. What am I talking about? Well, as far as I'm concerned, a person can read all the time management books they like but unless they take action, then nothing is going to improve in their lives. It's as simple as that. Am I being a bit harsh. Probably but understand, I was an "absorber of information" for a long time. I use to think the next book on time management I read would provide me with the answer I needed to make that leap of faith. Finally, it dawned on me that basically all the information you read in time managment books is the same. It's just written in a different way. So I got out of my comfort zone and started taking action. I started to do rather than pray and hope and you know what, it actually worked. I became more efficient in the productivity area, had more time to actually enjoy a few things in life and started to beef up my bootom line. In a home business situation, good time management is one of the most vital components. I came out of the dark side into the results-laden good side and I am thankful I finally did. And all it took was a little action. Take Action Today! Listen, I'm not suggesting you stop reading your time management book. Perish the thought. Then you never get to read my stuff. I'm saying put some time aside to read a little everyday but put into practice what you read by taking a little action. The results will follow. Just be a little patient. |
