Time Management For Teachers - How Does A Teacher Manage Time?J D DeanJust like students, teachers have to manage their time efficiently to complete designated tasks. Time management for teachers is probably not discussed as much as it is for students however, it's just as important for a teacher to obey deadlines.
When you analyze a teacher's role, it's amazing to think they teach and talk to dozens of students throughout the course of a day, running different classes and setting different assignments. If you think time management isn't important during the course of a teacher's day then think again. One of the biggest tasks for a teacher, particularly in a high school or college program is managing both the classroom role in conjunction with their work outside the classroom. Preparing assignments and then making the time to check and mark them. Their role is made tougher simply because not every student is at the same learning capacity; some learn quicker than others therefore complete assignments in a much faster time scale. A teacher needs to take this into account when setting assignments. Time management for teachers involves prioritizing what's important and completing it before less important tasks. For a teacher, this can be a gray area especially when students are involved. In a school system, deadlines are important in the smooth running operations of that school. How does a teacher prioritize what's important in a situation which involves students at different ends of the learning ability scale. Do they simply stay with the brighter kids and let the slower learners work it out for themselves? This is a tough choice and in most cases, unless the student is simply there to waste time, the teacher will need to make concessions for the benefit of those students who have fallen a little behind in the deadlines stakes. The importance of time management for teachers is further emphasized when you take into account how far their attention umbrella needs to span. Talk about having to be organized. It's simply a teacher's lot! |
